Albertson’s LLC Distributes $300,000 through Inaugural Community Partners Challenge
60 Charities in 6 States Win Grants for their Organizations’ Projects & Programs
Boise, IDAHO – Albertson’s LLC announced today the 60 charities that won grants in the company’s inaugural Community Partners Challenge.
The 60 winning charities are in six states throughout the company’s market areas, and support causes ranging from school clubs and parent-teacher organizations to hunger relief and animal welfare. Charities were invited to submit requests for grants ranging from$1,000 to $25,000. The most-voted for charities in each category were awarded grants. The two charities receiving the top grants of $25,000 each are Teurlings Catholic High School in Lafayette, LA, and The Foundation for Service Dog Support in Surprise, AZ. Each of those charities had over 50,000 votes each.
The Albertsons Community Partners program helps schools and 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations earn money for their programs when their supporters shop at Albertson’s LLC’s stores. Organizations can earn up to $24,000 a year through their participation in the program. The Community Partners Challenge grants are in addition to any regular program distributions from supporters’ shopping.
"When we launched the Community Partners Challenge in September, we invited all of our participating Community Partners to apply for a grant and tell their story,” said Bob Butler, executive vice president of operations for Albertson’s LLC. “Some wonderful charities stepped up to tell their stories, and shared the opportunity to vote for their cause with their supporters and friends. In total, 1.8 million votes were cast in the 15 days that the Challenge was open for voting. As a company, we’re very proud to be able to follow in the footsteps of our founder, Joe Albertson, and support the organizations through this grant program. They’re doing some fantastic things in our communities.”
